Allow me to introduce you to the Irish couple who left us speechless…

So much of their love story, accomplishments, travels, and amazing energy left us in utter awe. No joke folks, and that is often hard to do because we have the honor of meeting so many incredible folks planning Iceland weddings and luxury elopements! For sake of time, I’ll grace you with the high level cliff notes so you have a little background as you connect with their sweet little elopement in Iceland 😉
These two met over 50 years ago, so one could say they were lifetime sweethearts just waiting for the time to be right for them to begin their long awaited love story. Once the time was right, they found their way back to each other exploring the world together. In their 50’s they backpacked through Thailand and Tanzania. One can only hope to be as active and nimble as they were and are at those ages and beyond! Challenging each other to grow and sharing adventures together is a super important part of their relationship. They have found their way to other offbeat areas of the world like Cuba, South Africa, China and beyond taking journey’s together rain or shine.
The day came when they were in a pub in Ireland talking about how they were going on a cruise ship tour through the Nordic countries and thought Iceland would be a fantastic country to have an adventurous elopement to remember! Dervilla and Denis reach out to our team asking us if it would be possible to organize an elopement in Iceland so quickly (with only about 5 weeks to plan it) with the added logistics of the cruise ship schedule. We of course said “heck yes” and Iceland elopement planning began!
Having only a limited number of hours available (IE, the cruise ship was leaving at 4:30pm GMT) we made the most of their Iceland wedding locations and suggested a super fun schedule for their elopement in Iceland. The day began with our team picking them up from their cruise ship: The Magellan from the Reykjavik port. They were all smiles and giggles excited for what adventures lied ahead of them.
Upon arrival of the Iceland ceremony location, we met our favorite mountaineering Pastor at a lovely lake we spent the morning exploring together. Their Iceland wedding ceremony was held lakeside and was so sweetly personalized by Denis playing some tunes with his Irish whistle. Dervilla was a lucky gal being serenaded by her handsome man! During their Iceland elopement, they said their personal vows to each other and sealed their new promises with a kiss!
After the ceremony, they were happy to slide on their hiking boots to explore the area with us further for epic Iceland wedding photographs! These two looks so good in this vibrant landscape! …and did someone say Iceland wedding photos in a cave?! Be still my heart! Afterwards, we headed to some gorgeous golden cliffs where there were views for days… the textures and tones of this place were stunning in everyway.
What wedding adventure in Iceland, would be complete without having a stop at a beautiful black sand beach?! None! So we ventured to one of my favorite offbeat beaches where they watched the waves and delighted in each other. We even had a tiny bit of extra time to explore one of my favorite cliffside waterfalls where they experienced the raw side of Iceland… the wind! They embraced harder and enjoyed the view!
